what are the laws surrounding sewing my own clothing labels into wholesale clothes to sell?
Public Comments
- thats fraud
- I don't think that's legal. You could probably attach a tag that states your business on it though.
- that is fraud and un-ethical! Please let us know the name of your label so we can avoid "your" products like they are the plague!!!!!
- This is illegal, just like selling fake Louis Vuitton's on Ebay. If you didn't make it, you can't put your labels on it unless you have contracted with the wholesaler who makes them that it is ok to put your label on them.
- Dont think you can attach a label that gives the impression to the buyer that the item is something that its not.... that would infringe copyright laws etc. Dont think there would be a problem with you inventing your own label to put onto clothes as long as it didn't imply that it was something its not
- It is NOT fraud or illegal, but there are rules and limitations. Look here http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/buspubs/thread.shtm for more details.
- nothing... go for it toots... have fun plagiarizing others... its hat everyone does and perfectly legal.... good luck
- i think you should discuss this with a business link adviser or a trading standards officer to make sure you get the law right. it could cost you everything you have if you take someone's advice off here and it isn't correct. you could also see a solicitor over this, some offer free sessions, so it won't cost you anything to get their advice. use these links to help you further: http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/ http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/index.cfm http://www.clsdirect.org.uk/directory/directorySearch?lang=en also, it would be great if you could answer my Q before it ends - it's about helping people who have or want to start a small business. many thanks, Rebecca http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Amcdg_P7O9iDccicjgddn7YACAx.?qid=20070411050804AAiklwW
