Are different brand labels sewn into the same batch of clothing?

I have just read in a forum that the poster's friend's mum sews labels into clothes for one major high street shop then sews labels for a major supermarket into clothes from the same batch. The identical clothes are then sold at different prices! Does this really happen?

  1. Yep. My mom's best friend is a famous fashion designer in Asia and she informed me about how the industry works. A lot of the stuff is taken from a 'wholesale' company. She told me about a purse they offered to her that is in reality a Gucci purse without the label because Gucci buys the purse from them and slaps on a label and price tag. She bought the purses and sells them at her store, but it has her label and her own price.
  2. probley but i think that its like a pair of jeans get sold at lets say garage and than they take out some stiches and than sell them some were else i kno thats like grocery items like soup and cookies for example like cambles chicken soup is the brand name and than the other brands there all made at the same place but they jus paste different lables on it
