Why do manufacturers of clothing put labels at the back of the neck so it itches when we wear the clothes?

  1. I gotta give you a star for this as it is so , so true.....
  2. It is to show the label in the best possible way. Clothes are hung front forward in stores. Everyone sees the label clearly.
  3. This is done purely for the makers and the retailers benefit as it means that identification is always easy to see through the packaging. Incidently small childrens labels are not always at the back of the neck
  4. It's very annoying isn't . Some manufactures like Hanes do tagless tees. They print the info right on the inside of the shirt.
  5. They want you to know who makes them before you tear them off.
  6. because when the garment is on the hanger, that's where it shows, telling the brand, size, washing instructions, etc. I almost always remove the tags, they drive me crazy, and it bugs me when I see someone with tags sticking up from the neck, when the rest of the look is so great.
  7. It's so that the Crime Scene detectives can identify your fashion tastes without having to disturb the crime scene, assuming that you are laying face down.
  8. i agree with you-it drives my son mad i pull labels out as soon as ive bought them sadly this sometimes rips the garment grrr
  9. iv given you star.. its soo irritating, sometimes label just kinda hangs out..
  10. This used to drive my crazy when I was a child. I would always cut the labels with sissors. Sometimes it would make it better and others times it could be worse as there would be small bit of ragged label at the neck. I have even ruined or put holes in one or two items of clothes at the neck (worth it) to get rid of an annoying label. I am not so bad now with the whole label thing but I do think its annoying - even on boxer shorts. I think clothing manufacturers could give an alternative solution to this if they really wanted to. They could have some sort of tag or label which is not stitched into the clothing and is easily detachable once you get home.
