Clothes for teenager going camping in spring?

hi there iam a teenage girl and our youth group is going camping for the week in a cold climate, and i dont have a clue what to wear, as it will be pretty cold 24/7 all the time, and as a teenage girl i cant seem to keep warm, even in the warmest of temperatures, i would imagine i will need a lot of layers but i dont really know exactly what clothing and how many of each clothing to wear each day, i dont have money to buy expensive outdoor clothing,so the clothes will have to be my own. i also have pajamas that i will take, but they are shorts and t shirt, and i dont know if they will keep me warm, but i have to wear them, as i love them i also have yahoo messenger, feel free to help me through that aswell thanks

  1. you will need a lot fo warm sweaters and of course a coat. take a lot of pants to.
  2. take a variety. that way, you will be prepared
  3. Definitely do layers..maybe t-shirt, sweater, hoodie. Before you go, take time to put together different layers using the clothes that you have now. That will give you an idea of what you need to take. You can always remove a layer if you get too hot. You don't need expensive outdoor clothes to have fun. As for pjs, some of the kids just wear sweats to bed or their jeans (if they're not too dirty). The best thing is to have a great time!
  4. Thermal underwear - long sleeves and long legs. That's the first layer. If it's below-freezing cold, a down jacket. You can get them pretty cheaply at Wal-Mart or, if you want something that'll last, try Burlington Coat Factory. Good insulated gloves. Ski gloves aren't fashionable, but they'll keep your hands warm. Wool socks - at least 2 pairs per day, in case one pair gets wet. A sweater under a down coat will probably be too warm, but bring at least one. A down sleeping bag, and you can wear summer pajamas and sweat. (Sleeping bags that are rated to -20F aren't that expensive. You can always leave it a little open if it's warm, or open it completely and use it as a blanket.) Also bring clothing for warmer weather. Even in winter, some areas can get warm for a few hours around noon, and if you're working (chopping wood, moving the tent), you can get overheated quickly. Warm shirts, mainly, so you can work with your coat off.
  5. My oldest goes on camping trips too. She usually layers. A t-shirt, long sleeve t-shirt, sweatshirt then jacket. She takes gloves, hat, scarf and wears a thin pair of socks under heavier socks. As far as pajamas, she usually brings a pair of sweat pants and sleeps in the short t and long t at night, changing in the morning. Make sure to change your socks prior to bed....your feet will be warmer in fresh socks. These will probably be things you should have. Because of the layering, she usually borrows the long sleeve t and sweatshirt from my boyfriend because they are baggier and allow for comfortable layering. Maybe you can borrow from someone a bit bigger than you. Check the camping section of a local superstore (ie Walmart) for handwarmers...when activated, they emit heat...they also help to keep you warm. Good Luck!
