Best way to label clothing for day care?

Hand-stitch? Magic marker? Other ideas? Our day care requires each item be labelled, and labelling all the clothing seems like a HUGE project. Any suggestions for making it easier?

  1. Get one of those laundry markers that doesn't wash off. Label the tags with one of those. It's fast and simple to do!
  2. Sharpie marker, your childs initials on the tag of clothing!! This is what I do.
  3. The easiest way is to use a laundry marker. They are made for this particular type of situation. You will appreciate it later when you lose your first item of clothing.
  4. You can buy labels with pre-printed names to iron on. Look in fabric stores for these. If you choose to hand stitch, use initials only.
  5. Markers work alright, but they bleed and fade. Iron-on labels work really really well- they don't fall off and they look nice. You just order them online and they'll ship them to your house, all customized. Try these ones: http://www.namelabels.com/index.htm
  6. buy blank shirts use iron ons
  7. a sharpie on the tag is the ideal way to label them for school when my bro was in preschool another kid stole some of his stuff and had it in his backpack luckily mom had done the labeling and when they searched the stuff was easily located
  8. there isn't really an easy way, but if u want your child to come home with what she left with just take a sharpie and label her clothes where you know that it belongs to her. clothes are not cheap and neither are daycares so think long and wise aabout it
  9. sharpie marker
