What kind of clothes (not brand name) do normal teenagers wear in California?

SInce I wear a uniform at school i Have no sense of what to wear outside my school. SOme of my friends classify my clothes as too formal or too old and "mom-like" for teenagers to wear. please suggest some good stores/brands for jewelry, clothes, shoes, etc. thx

2. well not brand name is kinda difficult since evryone is wearing brand names now a days but like jean shorts and a tee and flip flops are cute =)
3. takes and shorts and flip flops is your best bet. try out a local ross. but name brand isnt always expensive. go to aeropostal. or hollister. and remember go straight to clearance. where alot of board shorts and cargo shorts then top it off with a cute tank. either lace or ones with prints. screen tees are cool too. walmart got alot. its in cali im sure its hot. you will pick up the surfer style in no time. remember simpe is better.
4. try flipping through seventeen or teen vogue. you probably couldn't go wrong with a cute pair of jeans that fit well and a graphic tee. you should def look in some teen mags for inspiration, or just go look at people around you when you aren't in school. it's really not that hard!
5. just like tight jeans that are like hip huggers or low rise & tight shirts, low cut shirts, sweathirts, basically any shirt. ooh & tank tops & LAYERING THEM
6. hollister, acerbcome and fitchh like totally, girlfriend hit the mall
7. It really depends what part of California you're in and what style you got. In Los Angeles they where a variety of clothes from shorts to pants and a lot of short sleeves and hats. In the Bay Area (like me) you would wear a hip-hop style of clothing. If you're a skater you wear skinny jeans and DC shoes.
8. skinny jeans, long shirts, colorful sweaters=normal girls skinny jeans ,spaghetti's showing almost belly button, and a mini sweater= hoochie-ish
