ladies clothes sizing?

Have you heard that shops in the uk are planning on changing their sizing methods. instead of size 10 - 12 etc and there will be haivng measurements in cms instead on the clothes This is apparently to stop confusion of I'm a size 10 in this shop but when I go in that shop I'm a 12. Do you think this will make a difference or will it still be confusing. I personally think they need to use a standard measurment system like if you are a 38in bust then this makes you a size 14 in all shops . All clothes should be made with the same measurements and not less inches in one shop and more in another

  1. Yes - some standardisation would be nice. Some stores are more 'generous' with their sizing and some are very stingy with the material - usually the cheapo shops like 'New Look' and 'Primark' who try to make as much as possible out of a strip of material to increase profits!
  2. I thinlk it's a good idea, I'm a different size in every shop and mail order is a nightmare so I just don't do it. I will only buy clothes if I can try them on or I know that I always fit in the same size in a particular shop.
  3. Great, but even when you are buying something that is as precise as bra they are still cut differently so some are comfortable and others are not. Just a step in the right direction.
  4. yea I like your idea, 38 bust = size 14!! I'm a 38 bust, and can't get any top's to fit me unless they are 16 or 18. But my jeans are a size 14. Puzzling isn't it? And how can a bra size fit you from one shop, but the same size from annother shop doen't even cover half of em?!!
  5. I'm glad they are finally doing this. I'm sick of having everything from a size 8 to a size 16 in my wardrobe, it's completely ridiculous. This way you measure yourself and then you buy the clothes with your measurements, it's so much simpler.
  6. erm i think i will get really confused but im sure it will be very helpful.
  7. Its going to take some use getting too, i hope stores will have staff trained and give out guides to help confused consumers.
  8. We have had the same problem in the US for years. I can ware sizes ranging from 10 to 16 depending on the cut and the price. It seems the more expensive an item is the smaller the size. It's infuriating! Good luck with it.
