How do I measure ladies clothes properly?

I have some dresses I would like to sell on ebay that are marked S/M and M/L, How do I measure them to get the UK size's of 8, 10, 12 etc.,? Or what is the way to get the chest, waist measurements correct? Thanks in advance,

1. You could buy a tape measure and measure the bust, hips etc , then you look in any good Diary and you should find the measurements in the back. Also i am sure the conversions will be listed somewhere on the net.
2. Start with the inside leg and work your way up.
